Overview of fire classes

Read about the different fire classes below

EI certified doors

The EI certification indicates that the door is certified according to EN-16034.

EI solutions are approved to stop the spread of fire and smoke for a given number of minutes and have heat reduction on the opposite side. These doors and fire curtains are therefore suitable for creating safe evacuation routes - even in places with narrow passages or large numbers of people.

"E" stands for fire resistance and "I" for thermal insulation.

EI certified doors and fire curtains are approved for the number of minutes specified by EI (EI30, EI60 etc.).

At DAN-doors we have the following EI approved fire solutions:

Fire doors
Fire curtains
Fire sliding doors

EW-certified doors

The EW certification indicates that the door can resist fire and smoke within a specified period with reduced radiant heat on the opposite side.

"E" stands for fire resistance and "W" for radiant heat.

When there is reduced radiant heat on the opposite side, it becomes possible to evacuate in places where you can pass without getting too close to the door or fire curtain.

EW-certified doors and fire curtains are approved for the number of minutes indicated after EW (EW30, EW60, etc.).

At DAN-doors we have the following EW-approved fire solutions:

E-certified doors

The E-certification indicates that the door is certified according to EN-16034 to stop the spread of flames and smoke between buildings, floor sections and fire zones.

"E" stands for fire resistance.

E-certified fire solutions stop the spread of fire, smoke, but have neither heat reduction nor radiant heat reduction on the opposite side. These solutions are suitable for areas where there is no need to consider personal or material protection.

E-certified doors are approved for the number of minutes indicated after E (E30, E60, etc.).

At DAN-doors we have the following E-certified brand solutions:

BS-certified doors

Until 2019, fire doors in Denmark were approved according to DS1052.2 and classified as BD (fire resistant) and BS (fire safe) respectively.

After the new European fire safety legislation in 2019, the rules changed and BS certified doors are no longer approved as fire doors in facades.

BS60 doors for interior use with personnel access can still be fire approved by DBI in certain cases, however we recommend EI certified solutions.
