A industrial door can have different purposes and there is therefore no single answer to the question. At DAN-doors we supply both industrial doors as hinged doors and as High Speed doors for industrial purposes.

Our standard industrial doors can be produced as RC3, which ensures that we as manufacturer and supplier meet the strictest requirements within the European standard EN-1627. This also means that the doors meet the burglary classification RC3 according to EN-1627.

The classification means that both the door and the frame must be able to withstand a simulated burglary based on certain assumptions, including that the construction must be able to withstand a normal burglary attempt lasting less than 20 minutes. The five minutes of the test are considered as active execution with tools, and the remaining time is assumed to correspond to rest, changeover and the planning expected to perform the burglary.

All DAN-doors' products can be produced and painted in the colours our customers want. The doors can be painted in 60 my for indoor use and 120 and 150 my for outdoor use. For environments where there is a heavier load on the doors, they will also be painted with 120 and 150 my.

A fire door prevents the spread of flames and toxic smoke in the event of a fire, allowing evacuation, and can therefore have a crucial impact on safety. That's why we set high standards for our fire doors at DAN-doors.

Fire doors and fire curtains must be approved and certified according to a wide range of very strict requirements, including materials. They can be certified in different classes, which indicate whether the door is approved for escape routes or for partitioning between fire zones.

E stands for integrity, which covers the resistance of the fire door or fire curtain to fire for the given number of minutes.

W stands for radiation, which covers the protective capacity of the fire door or fire curtain against heat radiation for the given number of minutes.

I stands for insulation, which covers the fire door's or fire curtain's insulation capacity against fire for the given number of minutes.

Ranked, EI-certified solutions provide the absolute highest fire safety, as they are approved to provide the greatest protection at a very small distance from the fire door or curtain. This means that EI-certified fire solutions are approved to secure escape routes.
Next come EW-certified solutions, which protect against heat radiation at a slightly greater distance from the fire door or curtain, and finally E, which simply prevents the fire from spreading but does not provide any protection for people or property.

The fire classes E, EW and EI will always be followed by digits indicating how many minutes the fire curtain or fire door provides protection against flames, radiation and close passage respectively.

In the past, the abbreviations "BS" and "BD" were used, which simply stood for "fireproof" and "fireproof". BS indicated that the door was made of a non-combustible material, while BD indicated that the door could be made of combustible materials, which nevertheless had a high resistance to fire.

On 1 November 2019, the BS60 certification, which until then had been the Danish certification for fire doors, expired. This means that since 1 November 2019, BS60 doors no longer have to be used as fire doors in facades. However, BS60 doors may still be used in the interior of buildings if the doors are used for passenger traffic. All fire doors placed in facades must now be CE marked to be approved for use under European legislation.

The fact that the fire door is CE marked means that the product complies with European legislation, and the European certification is your guarantee that all countries now work to the same certification for fire doors.

All DAN-doors' EI fire doors for facades are CE marked to comply with the new standards for fire doors. Our fire doors are produced according to customer requirements and are approved as long as they stay within the maximum and minimum dimensions of the certificates.

If you want a CE marking of your fire doors, they must be tested according to standard EN1634-1 requesting the CE marking. For smoke doors, they must be tested to standard EN1634-3. In addition to this, your FPC must be approved by an accredited company.

The overall difference between the two certifications (BD and BS classifications versus CE marking) is that BS doors are tested from one side only, whereas EI doors are tested from both sides of the door. The European classified fire doors can always be offered in tenders where BD or BS doors are defined. However, this is not the case the other way round: if European classifications are defined, these are the ones that must be followed.

DAN-doors supplies fire-resistant hinged and sliding doors for chill and freeze. The doors are supplied with fire batts in the door leaf, as well as fire-retardant sealing strips. Fire-retardant means that the sliding door requires approval by the local fire authority, which is usually achieved without any problems.

Fire doors for coolers and freezers can therefore be designed as both hinged doors and sliding doors. However, it is important to note that freezer doors are not normally approved as fire doors. Approval requires the local fire authority to approve the door, which is usually done without any problems. In supermarkets, warehouses and other places with refrigerated environments, it is first and foremost essential to choose a door with a high insulating effect. The wrong temperature can quickly lead to damaged frozen or refrigerated products or increased energy bills, with considerable financial losses.

It can be done. We manufacture fire doors with high insulation performance, which are simultaneously insulated with fire batts and 15 mm fireboard. So you kill two birds with one stone and get insulation and safety in one door.

In larger food processing plants, where doors are opened and closed many times a day, a sliding door ensures minimal litter loss. Sliding doors also save space, and where fire separation is required, a fire door is the best choice.
